Dr. Julie Thompson-Dobkin
Dr. Thompson-Dobkin is a Board-certified neurologist. She has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh and on the clinical teaching staff at Washington University in St. Louis. While in academics, her work involved teaching medical students and residents, as well as conducting basic and clinical research. Her clinical work has taken her to the third world nations of Haiti and Tanzania. Currently, she is employed at Share Our Selves Medical Clinic, providing neurology care for the indigent / uninsured population of Orange County, California.
Apart from Dr. Thompson-Dobkin’s medical work, she has a keen interest in addressing quality of life issues for those living with chronic illness, poverty, and housing insecurity. She has more recently been working with students confronted by discrimination in their schools and communities because of race, gender identity, or socio-economic status. Art has become the platform to raise awareness of these socially challenging situations to foster understanding and acceptance.
Dr. Thompson-Dobkin serves on the Board of Someone Cares Soup Kitchen and Tutoring Program, the Cover Editor for Epilepsy & Behavior, and is a member of the Inclusion Council of Newport Harbor High School.
